4 Easy Steps to Start a Fund

Decide How Much You'd Like to Give
For some, the decision is simple. Others who may be looking to maximize tax benefits may want to work with their accountant or financial advisor in deciding the establishing amount. A fund can be started with any amount, although a minimum gift of $10,000 (which can be paid over multiple years) is required to establish a fund.

Meet With a Foundation Representative
We'll work together to identify which fund type best meets your goals, how your fund should be used, what you'd like to name your fund, and designating fund advisors along with succussing advisors. We document all of these decisions and more in a Fund Agreement that you'll sign to make your charitable intentions official.

Make the Establishing Gift
We can accept a variety of gift types, from cash to stocks. Your new fund is officially established once the gift arrives and the fund agreement form is signed.

What to Expect Next
You will receive a tax deduction at the time the fund is established and when additional contributions are made to the fund. The foundation also takes a nominal, annual fee to manage and administer the fund in perpetuity. A portion of our annual fee revenue is also allocated for additional grants made for La Crosse community needs.
