The designated purpose of the Francine Marie Victoire Klein International Student Scholarship Fund is to benefit international students who will be attending either University Wisconsin-La Crosse or Viterbo University. This fund was established in honor of the late Dr. Francine M.V. Klein. Dr. Klein, who retired as Distinguished Lecturer at UW-L in 2016, was herself an international student both in Germany at the University of Heidelburg and in the United States at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. In addition to teaching French and Foreign Language Education courses at Viterbo University, Dr. Klein taught French, German and Introduction to Study Abroad courses at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for many years. Further, she conducted the Culture as the Core Workshop at the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for two decades. Dr. Klein also served as the advisor to the International Students Organization at UW-L and was crucially involved in organizing the United Nations International Documentary Film Festival at UW-L. The fund honors her memory and involvement with international students.
